Ardmore Notes 25th January 2012

Week 3 of the Jackpot stood at £700 with numbers 1-17-20 had no winner this week. Although £50 won by Allison Storey – Crane. Next week’s jackpot £800

Is there anyone from your club
interested in becoming a Ladies Referee? If there is enough numbers interested we can run a Grab your Whistle Course Level 1 which takes place over 3 days. Please let me know ASAP if anyone is interested.

Men’s training has commenced with a variety of training. Monday night will be in Judges Road at the City of Derry RFC starting at 7pm. Then on Fridays in the pastoral centre for circuits again starting at 7pm. Make every effort to attend and don’t forget your £1’s for further info contact William

Ladies training will begin on Monday the 30th of Jan at Judges Road. 7pm – 8pm to begin with! Football boots & gloves required. If you would like to join in come along and try it out don’t forget to bring a friend and your £1’s. For further info contact Michelle or Allison.

Coaches for under age are urgently required we have an enthusiastic players who need someone to help guide them. Please contact Eoin Mailey if you are interested. If we do not get coaches we may have to amalgamated teams or even worse not represent that age this season.

There are several
courses coming up in which the club will support anyone who would like to attend in order to benefit the coaching panel. Check out the website or contact Michelle or Eoin

The container will be open for anyone wishing to recycle any type of clothing, hard back books and aluminium cans on Sat 10 – 12noon at Mc Courts Bar. Please squash your cans as Eugene had to do about 500 on his own! Again this is an important way to fundraise.

We now have
a fundraising coordinator who will help with any fundraising activities and get groups together to organise events for the club. This is an important role this year with the opening of the new pitch. It is hoped that each team will have some form of activity to help the club. Anyone with ideas or time to help out is very welcome to the monthly meetings, alternatively contact Garrett Mc Laughlin.

Meetings will be held on the First Monday of every month at 7.30 in the Pastoral centre. The next meeting is the 6th of February. If you want to give us a visit or get there contact details of people in the club  Ardmore now has a Facebook page St Marys Ardmore GFC, so between that and the website you should be able to keep in contact.

Senior Men had a meeting this week with a great turn out of twenty five people. It was agreed that training would commence next week beginning the 23rd. The venue and time will sent out so keep checking the Facebook or the website.

Ladies are having a meeting on Monday the 23rd at the Pastoral centre. It is very important that we all attend to discuss important matters. If there is a genuine problem please let Annette, Michelle or Alison know either through Facebook or text ASAP.

Ladies County Board meeting is Thursday 19th at 7.30pm in Dungiven. There will be an Executive meeting before hand at 7pm. Please note that if club delegates do not attend 3 County Board meetings in a row, Bye Law 10 will be adhered to. It is very important that all clubs are present in meetings.

Derry Coaching would like to invite all club youth officers to a meeting in Owenbeg on Monday 23rd January at 7.30pm. The purpose of the meeting will be to provide all club youth officers with all the information they will require to complete their crucial role within the club over the next 12 months. Club Youth officers have one of the busiest roles within a thriving club, we want to ensure they have all the support and guidance possible to get through the year. Notes 11th January

Week 1 of the Jackpot which stood at £500 with numbers 5-17-20 was not won. £50 was won by John Mc Court. Next week’s jackpot stands at £600. The Lotto is our most consistent stream of fundraising; however we seriously need to boost promoters. Some of the committee will be going around the parish in an aim to do this so give it some consideration.

Ladies dust off the football boots! We have a meeting in the Pastoral centre for the 23rd of Jan at 8pm. It is hoped training will resume on the 25th, details will be given at the meeting when venues are more organised. Please spread the word to potential players as we did well last season and would like to continue this way.

The
Ladies county board meeting was cancelled on Tuesday night but is rescheduled for the 17th at Dungiven GAA Club for 7.30pm.

Derry GAA are rolling out an Award 1 Child course beginning this weekend, it is aimed to target coaches from U12 down. It will be held at the Owenbeg Centre of Excellence, dates are Friday, 13th January 7-10.30pm, Saturday, 14th January 9am - 6pm, Friday, 20th January, 7-10.30pm,Saturday, 21st January 9am - 3pm. The cost is £80 per person however the club will help with this. To apply You must have completed a foundation course and child protection course. Notes 4th January

Welcome back from the holidays, hopefully everyone had a nice time and are looking forward to 2012! Here’s looking to a prosperous year with the new pitch opening. The Lotto is going strong and we urge new members to get on board.
Chris Collins is looking to get the
development squads up and running before the end of January. All clubs to nominate 4 players to be considered for the Club Derry Football Development Squads this year. Sessions will be based around schools to best suit the players. Key advantages for development squad’s players are every player will have functional screening to access movement patterns, advice on Nutrition and Hydration, Player diaries to monitor training patterns and progression, supervised strength and conditioning programme and excellent skill based sessions. If any Player who is eligible to participate in under 15, under 16 or under 17 squads please forward their names to Eugene or Eoin.

Ladies, Ray is back on board this year and is looking to begin training early. A meeting will be arranged very soon so keep a look out. We would also like to congratulate Annette and David on the birth of their new baby boy.

Denise O’Boyle is starting a Pilates Course in the Pastoral Centre beginning the 18th of Jan. It will run for 6 weeks and costs £30. All you need is a mat. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin training and is open to all.

Ladies, Just a reminder that the first meeting of the year will be next Tuesday 10th January at 7.30pm in Dungiven. We need a list of your committee members as Gemma will have to forward these to Ulster Council as soon as. After the first meeting - only the county executive and secretaries of the clubs will receive minutes and any other relevant information - therefore it is vitally important that all information is passed on by the secretary, Please let Dolores or Frances know if you are going.

Our first meeting of this year is on
Tuesday the 10th at 7.30 in the Pastoral Centre. We will discuss the strategy plan for the incoming year and discuss the new managers for the senior men and coaches for the other teams. Anyone wishing to take part is more than welcome.
